The Sligo / Leitrim Junior Soccer League is one of the strongest junior leagues in the country. Sligo also has a thriving schoolboys league. Sligo has many GAA clubs with the county team playing its football and hurling games at Markievicz Park. Golf is a favourite pastime among the people of Sligo. Rosses Point, Enniscrone and Strandhill are home to fine links courses, while Tubbercurry also boasts a fine golf course. The West of Ireland Golf Tournament is held annually in Rosses Point. The Atlantic Ocean provides Strandhill and Easkey beaches with some of the finest surfing waters in the World. Waterworld in Enniscrone, provides fun for all the family with its indoor aqua centre and leisure centre. Sligo has a Sporting Complex with Gym, Swimming Pool and all-weather astro-turf playing field adjacent to the centre. For fitness fanatics, there are other Gymnasiums dotted throughout the town. Sligo Tennis club caters for lovers of tennis and badminton. Sligo Racecourse holds several race meetings throughout the year. Other sporting activities in Sligo include, Karate, Go-Karting, Squash, Snooker, Darts, Athletics, Cycling, Horse Riding and Walking.
